Almost all aspects of military life are designed around the protection of the United States of America. This puts soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, and coast guards in a position of having some of the most advance defense systems in the world. The mission critical nature has left many safety aspects  understudied or ignored entirely. Some of these safety concerns take years to develop and are life threatening. for those individuals, life becomes increasingly difficult and leads to misdiagnoses, medical professional disbelief, and ends primarily in a situation of suicidal thoughts that are too often acted on.

The VA left the burden of proof to the soldiers. These soldiers are where left paying out of pocket for medical opinions and wildly expensive testings to prove exposure. The PACT act is a functional stating point to fix this. This makes the long road a little more pleasant along the way, but the road is still long and we become more of a zombie each day.
